VetusOnline Electric Propulsion Battery Sizing Calculator
This calculator is intended for displacement boats using Vetus E-LINE electric propulsion systems up to 22 kW. The power estimate is based on waterline length, displacement and desired speed, which are used to calculate propulsion power demand before converting that demand into battery capacity. Semi-planing and planing boats typically require significantly higher power and energy levels and are therefore not suitable for standard E-LINE configurations.
This calculator is intended for displacement boats only.
Use LWL where possible. If unknown, overall boat length may be used as a guide.
Enter the actual operating displacement.
For displacement boats, speed is checked against hull speed.
Enter actual engine runtime, not the full day on the water.
Covers uncertainty, weather, current, aging and desired reserve.
The calculator converts the 48V battery requirement into a suggested number of 12V batteries.

This calculator provides an estimated system sizing based on waterline length, displacement and speed. It does not replace final technical verification based on real hull resistance, propeller selection, transmission, weather conditions, currents and safety requirements.
